Tour de France Femmes Stage 8 LIVE: Kasia Niewiadoma secures first title on Alpe d'Huez after Demi Vollering wins the stage

The Tour de France Femmes has a new champion. All eyes were on Demi Vollering ahead of the final stage, but it was Kasia Niewiadoma who held on to deliver the biggest title of her career. Vollering won the day but was left to rue her crash on Stage 5 - and her team's meek response - that saw her lose the yellow jersey. Pauliena Rooijakkers finished second on Stage 8 to take third spot overall.

What a successful week it's been for Fenix-Deceuninck, who have been omnipresent. Pieterse not only took a fantastic stage victory on stage 4, and finishes her first Tour de France Femmes with the white jersey, as well as third in the Queen of the Mountains, eighth in the points, and 11th in GC! Additionally, she finished 17th on Alpe d'Huez.

She finishes 1'01" behind and wins the Tour de France Femmes after an incredible climb...wow! She's in tears as she realises what she's just done, a stunning accomplishment, and one that is utterly well deserved.

She finished third in the GC last year and in 2022, but she's gone two better this year! She took her first road win in five years earlier in the year when she beat Vollering at La Flèche Wallonne, and today, atop Alpe d'Huez, she claims her first Tour de France Femmes victory.

Vollering finishes second in the GC with a deficit of just four seconds. Rooijakkers third at ten seconds.

The defending champion gave it everything, and was supported incredibly well by Fisher-Black, but it wasn't enough to win back-to-back titles.

Who is going to take this, I have no clue! What's Rooijakkers got left?!

Vollering back on the front, Niewiadoma with Muzic at 51". This is going to be so close, for both the stage win and the GC.

Niewiadoma goes with the French rider, 49" the gap now as Muzic chases the front two! Realini can't stay with them and gets distanced. Could this be the move that defends Niewadoma's GC place?!

She overtakes Vollering as she gets out of the saddle! Vollering remains close after the acceleration. 46" for Niewiadoma.

Gap at 46", this is such a close battle! Vollering and Rooijakkers still at the front of the race, Rooijakkers on the wheel of the defending champion.

Niewiadoma's group are 47" back! Vollering trying to get Rooijakkers to go to the front, but she's not budging.

She's throwing everything at defending this yellow jersey, they're currently 57" behind the leading Dutch duo.
