THE CHAMPION LIFTS THE TROPHY AND TAKES CENTRE STAGE
Sinner praises Medvedev for fighting for every ball and for coming through so many long matches. He adds that he hopes he wins the trophy in Melbourne one day.
Jannik thanks his team, says it’s a big moment for him and that he is still learning in these sort of tournaments.
He sends a special message to his parents for their support throughout his rise from a young kid to this moment now.
It's an understated speech but that sums him up; an ordinary, nice guy with extraordinary tennis skills.

MEDVEDEV REACTS TO A CRUSHING LOSS IN IMPRESSIVE STYLE
Classy words from Daniil. He congratulates Sinner for fighting to the end, raising his level and winning a lot of tournaments and finals (recently).
He says he expects Sinner will win more Slams in the future, but hopes he gets one again soon.
He thanks his team and says it hurts to lose in a final, but it's probably better to lose in the final than before that - and he gets a huge ovation for being so positive.
He concludes by saying he always wants to win, but he is proud of himself and will try even harder next time.

Sinner is the 3rd Italian player to win a Men's Singles Grand Slam event in tennis history after Nicola Pietrangeli (Roland Garros 1959 and 1960) and Adriano Panatta (French Open 1976).

GAME, SET AND MATCH! – SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-3 MEDVEDEV
Jannik Sinner is a Grand Slam champion for the very first time!
The Italian becomes just the third men’s major winner from his country and the first ever in Melbourne.
The 22-year-old hit back from two sets down to give Medvedev a taste of his own medicine and become the youngest AO champion since Novak Djokovic (20) in 2008.
Sinner served out to 30 and finished it off by unloading a brutal forehand winner to clinch the victory in three hours and 44 minutes.
What a match and what a moment for the youngster - but spare a thought for Daniil who blew a two-set lead (deja vu from 2022 against Rafael Nadal) and is now 0/3 in AO Open finals.

SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 5-3 MEDVEDEV
This would be heartbreaking for Medvedev. He’s been two sets up before in a final here and lost – and history could be about to repeat itself.
The Russian powers home a volley at the net to hold to 15 and pose the serve-out question....

SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 5-2 MEDVEDEV
Sinner simply stares at his box amidst the cacophony of noise inside Rod Laver Arena as he comes up trumps with a crunching crosscourt forehand winner following a pulsating 27-shot rally.
It had threatened to get nervy with a double fault from 30-0 up but that moment of genius put him in the box seat and a clutch serve did the rest.
The 22-year-old consolidates and is now just one game away from the title.

BREAK! – SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 4-2 MEDVEDEV
Jannik Sinner takes charge!
The No.4 seed guides a sumptuous backhand down the line either side of errors off that flank from Medvedev ... and it’s TRIPLE break point.
Medvedev survives one when Sinner thrashes just long, but the Italian makes it count on his second with a clean crosscourt forehand winner.
A maiden major title is growing on his horizon now. Does Daniil have anything left in the tank to deny him?

SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 3-2 MEDVEDEV
Jannik has been behind Medvedev in the winner count throughout this match, but that statistic has just been flipped and perhaps suggests that he’s the dominant one right now.
A trio of scorchers ping off that forehand and claim a game to 15 as the Italian moves on to 43 winners for the match.

SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 2-2 MEDVEDEV
It feels like the momentum is with Sinner but Medvedev has defied the odds time and time again at the tournament this year and he unleashes his 11th ace to rampage to a game to 15 and stay firmly in the hunt for his second major title.

SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 2-1 MEDVEDEV
Sinner’s first serve is firing as well and it does the heavy lifting as he marauds through a clean hold to maintain that scoreboard advantage early in the fifth.

SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 1-1 MEDVEDEV
Medvedev turns to his trusty serve at 15-30 as he darts out of danger courtesy of a trio of hefty deliveries.

The first game of the decider does not disappoint.
Cahill again urges for more from Sinner asking him to show him what he’s got at 15-30 down.
The Italian responds and somehow outlasts the human backboard in a gruelling rally at 30-30 before firing down his 12th ace to hit the front on the board!

SET! – SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 MEDVEDEV
We are going the distance!
Jannik does not let a woefully, heavy dropper at 15-15 dwell on his mind and a brilliant return cranks up the heat at 30-30.
The Italian fluffs his lines on another shanked forehand but then turns the tables again with a stonking drive volley.
Medvedev buckles with a nervy backhand and Sinner makes the set point count with a blockbuster of a forehand that lures another error long.
Incredible!

SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 5-4 MEDVEDEV
Sinner is keeping his foot pressed to the metal here.
The No.4 seed is playing his best tennis of the match right now and a pair of rasping forehand winners conclude a rampant game to 15 as he dumps the scoreboard pressure firmly upon Daniil’s shoulders.
11.43
SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 4-4 MEDVEDEV
Medvedev is bold after firing a backhand into the tramlines for 30-30, jumping into a mid-court pile-driver off that same wing to rush the error.
Sinner retorts with an explosive backhand of his own down the line for deuce but Medvedev unloads off the forehand before surviving when Jannik sizzles a forehand approach up the line into the net.
11.39
SINNER 3-6 3-6 6-4 4-3 MEDVEDEV
The message from Sinner’s coach Darren Cahill is to keep pushing Medvedev because he is tired.
But it’s the No.4 seed who seems to dip in concentration as he follows up a miscue on the backhand with a fourth double fault.
Medvedev spews a backhand wide searching for triple BP and a ninth ace pulls Sinner level.
The Russian keeps the pressure up and a forehand error does create a break point opportunity, but Jannik sandwiches a pair of aces with a scorcher of a forehand to pull the rabbit out of the hat and keep his nose in front.
That was pure clutch!
